After months of speculation, the BBC announced Friday that the second “Doctor Who” special of 2009 would air on Sunday, November 15.
Titled “The Waters of Mars,” the special will air at 7 p.m. on BBC1.
BBC America also confirmed that American fans will get to see the special quickly. The cable network announced Friday at the special will air in the United States on Saturday, December 19.
Airdates for the final two specials of the year will be announced in early December.
Those two episodes will feature the final appearance of David Tennant as the Doctor.
BBC America also announced that all three new specials will be released on DVD and Blu Ray on February 2. There will also be a five disc box set of all the specials released on that day.
No word yet on if the box set will have the usual wealth of box-set extras that other sets have seen.

A month later is quick, yeah right!! If the BBC wants Americans to stop downloading new Doctor Who episodes, they should air it on BBC America quickly.
This last summer, “Torchwood” aired on BBC America only two weeks after the initial run. I was hoping that they’d do the same for this, but …
if they want people to watch it on bbc america it needs to air within 24 hours of the premier, or I for one will fly bt airlines. after all they have been making us wait long enough already.
