“Trek” Highest Money Maker For Series

“Trek” Highest Money Maker For Series

October 7, 2009 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

This summer’s reboot of “Star Trek” was a huge success both critically and with fans.  But it was also a big success where it counts most with Hollywood studios — at the box-office.

The film, when adjusted for inflation, is the highest grossing entry in the long history of the franchise, according to TrekMovie.

The site crunched the numbers and found that “Star Trek” had the highest box-office take of any movie in the series.

“The final tally, as of last Thursday, brings the film a few thousand short of $385 Million world-wide, which is certainly a big success, especially for a franchise that was given up for dead by some just a few years ago,” TrekMovie reports. “According to Box Office Mojo, Star Trek‘s domestic tally is $257.7 over the 147 day theatrical run. This includes $28.1 Million for IMAX (or around 11%). This makes it the highest-grossing and highest-attended film in the Trek franchise.”

The film is currently the 47th top money earner of all time.

The movie will hit DVD and Blu-Ray in November.
