After months of promotion, ABC’s “Flash Forward” debuted to a solid 12.47 million viewers Thursday evening. The audience was good enough 4.0 rating in adults 18-49 and the overall audience grew over the course of the hour. The series won its time slot in a competitive kick-off to the prime time line-up on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the CW’s “Vampire Diaries” continues to be a success for the network. “Diaries” held held 100% of its audience last week among women 18-34 (2.6/8), adults 18-34 (1.8/6) and women 18-49 (2.3/6), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009. The freshman drama improved over last week among adults 18-49 (1.7/5) and total viewers (3.81mil).

The results were also good for “Supernatural” which continues to deliver solid ratings in the 9 p.m. EST time slot. With new episodes of “CSI” and “Grey’s Anatomy” the fifth season series retained 92% of last week’s adults 18-34 rating (1.2/3), 100% of its adults 18-49 audience (1.2/3) and 94% in total viewers (2.62mil).

Meanwhile, the good wasn’t as good for “Fringe.” After a solid debut last week, the series lost 27 percent of its viewers from last week dropping from 7.82 million to 5.73 million.
