Strahovski: New Season of “Chuck” Will “Change Things”

Strahovski: New Season of “Chuck” Will “Change Things”

August 10, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 7 Comments

yvonne-strahovskiWhile she can’t reveal much about what’s coming up in the third season of “Chuck,” actress Yvonne Strahovski can say that things will change, beginning with the first episode of season three.

“I’ve only read the first script, as have the other cast members, but I think it’ll definitely change things,” Strahovski told SciFi Wire. “I’m being very cryptic, but I think that’s all I can say. It’s just going to change things.”

The actress said that something “traumatic” and “epic” will happen in the first episode that changes the dynamic of the Chuck and Sarah relationship.  Part of that could be that the Intersect upgrade Chuck downloaded in the season finale was not intended for him, but for Bryce Larkin.

And Strahovski says anyone looking for a happy ending for Chuck and Sarah will have to wait.

“We can leave that for the season finale of the very last season,” Strahovski said. “I think that’s what keeps people watching. Every show where there’s, like, a ‘will they/won’t they’ love relationship, that’s what people live vicariously through. I don’t know, people just pine for it.”

“I think tonally we’re still going to have the great balance with the comedy and the romance and the action,” Strahovski added. “The only thing that’s changed is that Chuck has this new Intersect in his head, so we’re going to be seeing how he handles it and how it actually operates, because it’s a whole new thing.”

As for the reduced episode count for season three, the actress said the she and co-star Zachary Levi are “grateful” to get the chance to continue playing their characters.

“It was a little scary there for a little while, because we weren’t sure whether we were coming back. To have the fans do what they did and really push through for us, we are here today only because of them and what they did. So we’re really grateful for the 13 and happy to be coming in after the Olympics,” she said.

She did add that if NBC decided to pick up nine more episodes for a third-season of 22 episodes, that that would be great as well.

The one big mistake would be to send Chuck back to the Buy More. He’s outgrown it. The Buy Morons can sustain their own story lines without having Chuck there.

I’m guessing that one of the relatively minor changes will be Sarah’s new cover job at the local Subway shop. (Go go, gadget product placement!) She’s done wieners and fro-yo, so sandwiches should be a cinch. Mmm, sammiches. Heck, all three members of Team Chuck could work there and have their new secret base in the basement now that Chuck and Casey quit the Buy More. It’d be so convenient.

Do we really have to wait until January? 🙁

I love the show Chuck. I would be totally upset not to get to come home just to watch this show. I just wish it wasn’t taking until January for new episodes but no worries NBC I will take what we are given. If thirteen epy’s is all you will give then we will gratefully accept that and show that once again we want more and hopefully get more. Yay Chuck crew they are coming back!!!!

Was it all the gratuitous up-skirt shots in the premiere?
