“Best” on what scale exactly? I suppose if we’re going for most well made movie all around (acting, score, cinematography, et al) then I’d go with Chamber of Secrets.

The Chamber of Secrets was the best so far, followed by 2, then 3. They have steadily gotten worse and worse because they continue to cut out more and more of the books while making up new stuff. The last two movies I can understand cutting out a lot of the book to keep under two and half hours, but every ending since movie 4 has been butchered. So much so that I walk out of the theater scratching my head and upset.

Ash, I am not intending to start a flame war but you may want to rethink or restate your opinion. Certainly you are entitled to your own views of which films are better, and I would never say that there is a problem with your own perspective of the movies, but there is a significant error that you have made.

You state that Chamber is the best followed by 2 and then 3, but Chamber is the second film of the series and thus is cannot really follow itself.

the first had such innocent and magic to it, no pun meant there. Have to agree with ash the others i didnt like as much as the books. I have major issues with the last movie and to be honest im really worried how they are going to end this in movie form. after seening who and what was left out in the last one, (sorry, no spoilers.)

Well i have to keep my mouth shut for another week, but after that ill give my opinions.

I always have to laugh when people expect the exact-ness of the books to be translated onto the movie screen. It usually NEVER happens. Some movies come close but never ring as true.

I have given up expecting the book/comic/any source material in a movie anymore. I take it for what it is, a movie that is going to take me away from our weary world for a couple of hours.

Order of the Phoenix had the best action by far. The fight between Voldemort and Dumbledore at the end was pure awesomeness.

Prisoner of Azkaban was the best of the films.
Columbus brought Harry Potter to the silver screen masterfully. However, his vision of the magical world was one that was almost old world and intangible. Cuarón skewed vision of the magical world gave the films a sort of authenticity that is hard to explain, but a pleasure to watch. I will forever applaud Columbus for the initial envisioning of Harry Potter for the screen, but Cuarón took that story into the beyond.

Goblet of Fire on the other hand was the worst of the films. A fact which darkens a book I was so found of.

It’s really a tie for me between Prisoner of Az. and Order of the Phoenix. Prisoner goes gets the nudge for pure artistry in the Petronum scene. For me the worst one so far was 1/2 blood. I don’t read the books. 1/2 blood was the first time I felt there was really some story missing or that the choices weren’t balanced well for the on screen story. It was always fun asking people who read the books about things but it was really a necessity before this one.
