Is it possible that the upcoming ninth season for “Smallville” won’t be the series’ last?
That could be the case according to series star, Justin Hartley.
“Look, they’re so busy right now, they don’t know if they’re doing one more season or eight more seasons or two more seasons,” Hartley told SciFi Wire. “They have no idea. So we’ll see. I’ve spoken to them a couple weeks ago and had kind of a vague conversation with them about concept and stuff.”
Hartley may have a better idea of where things will go when he returns to the set later this month. The actor who plays Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow, on the show says he’s seen the first script of the season and can see where the writers are taking the Green Arrow this season.
“I know I’m in the episode,” he said, referring to the season premiere. “I know there’s a couple of saves gone awry. I think Oliver might be drinking again, which is always fun to play. So we’ll see what happens. I’ll leave that up to the brain trust.”
And while Hartley knows that, he doesn’t know yet if and how Green Arrow will go up against this year’s new big-bad, General Zod.
“I don’t know, we’ll see,” Hartley said. “I hope so. I always like to work with new actors. We just got this guy. I guess they hired a gentleman a couple days ago, so hopefully. We’ll see what happens.”
“Smallville” returns in September on the CW.

Oh.
god.
It’s becoming the new “Young and The Restless”.
I hope they improve… everything, otherwise I might start skipping it.

Only reason I watch this show is Hartley’s hot and Mack is awesome. I can’t hold them responsible for the show’s crappy writing.

Season 8 was pretty damn good, their major misstep was the season finale where both Doomsday and Jimmy Olsen got screwed over by some terrible writing. If they can get back to the quality of earlier episodes it might be worth it.

Season 8 in general was great but the final episode of the season had a lot of expectations and not much was delivered and I have high hopes for season 9.

I for one hope season 9 is not the last – i think 10 seasons would be perfect!
I know some people are like ‘this show is still on?’, but Smallville is a completly diferant show to what it was in it’s earlier seasons: the plot is alining with the mythology, the villians are bigger and badder and there are only 2 of the original cast left, leaving more room to focus on the more iconic ones.
Season 8 was overall a great season, and was one of my personal faves. Ive read online other peoples views and to me it’s just being picky and theres just no pleasing anyone lol.
Roll on sept 25th!
The writers are the same for S9 as they were for last season, so Im really looking forward to it! Especially that it’s supposed to be lining up more with the mythology. (This means CK embracing his destiny and more CLOIS =D)

This is the show that never ends. It just keeps going on and on, my friends. Some people, started watching not knowing what it was, and they’ll continue watching just forever just because, this is the show that never ends. Yes it keeps going on and on, my friends

I didn’t continue watching. I ditched it midway through season 6. People who know me are gasping right now, because I NEVER quit a show midseason. 😉

I gave up on the show mid season 3. There was too much Lana/Clark angst for my tastes. I would catch an episode here or there, but I would not call myself a faithful viewer.
The episode with the Legion of Superheroes this season caught my attention. Having been an LSH fan for 30+ years, I tuned in, and stayed. This season has been pretty good. They should have brought Clark out of Smallville years ago.
Why so many of the Superman mythos were forbidden to be tapped into early on were a loss for writer and viewer alike.
I’ll be there next year.

I don’t think anyone wants Season 18! 10 would be a nice round number, but I wouldn’t be upset if they ended at Season 9 either, as long as it was done well and we (and the characters) get to say a proper goodbye!

Superman must wear a uniform in season nine some where down the the end of the show. Smallville could last nine more years if this is done! Jor’el could make everyone think that Clark and Superman don’t look alike! This would make room for the Clark Kent glasses and more room for the Green Arrow to help Clark stay safe in his new missions! Clark can alway’s turn to Oliver Queen for help!

I’m a faithful smallville fan. I do think that they went a little too far with the Clark Lana thing, Now lets get a new name for the upcoming smallville, LETS CALL IT : (smallville) THE METROPOLIS ERA This way we can get another 9 or 10 years of SUPER HERO ACTION FOR THOSE OF US WHO ENJOY SMALLVILLE SERIES. thank’s

Tom Welling can now dress wearing any (S) on his shirt and pull in new viewers and plus have him fly ! The show can last 14 seasons. That’s a record breaker for any Superman show ! Where the glasses start I don’t know ?
