Johnny Depp looks insane. Well more insane than usual.

Considering his recent roles, I don’t get his popularity. Especially Captain Jack’s portrayal which so many seem to go ga-ga over.

He was OK in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, and Benny and Joon, mostly because of the supporting casts. Oh, and Edward Scissor Hands, where mercifully he did not have to speak.

Well, if this sucks as much as the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fiasco, count me out.

I guess I should chime in with an uncharacteristically positive comment.. I like Tim Burton, he has done little wrong in my eyes (PotA was one of those wrongs, BTW) and I look forward to this.

Well, the costumes look . . . interesting.

But, it’s a Burton/Depp collaboration, so no doubt we’ll see a flashback sequence where we learn that the Mad Hatter is so mad because he daddy didn’t give him enough hugs as a child.

    Pass.

I hope Mr. Depp doesn’t do to this classic what he did to Willy Wonka.

I’m sure, like Burton’s previous work, it will at least be pretty to look at. Whether it’ll actually be a good movie remains to be seen. His stuff is pretty hit-or-miss for me.

The Burton/Elfman/Depp/Bonham-Carter combination has grown stale for me.
