Weaver Cast in Sci-Fi Comedy

Weaver Cast in Sci-Fi Comedy

June 5, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

Watching AMC’s 25th anniversary showing of “Ghostbusters” the other evening, I was reminded of how funny actress Signorney Weaver can be when she’s given the right material.  (See also, “Galaxy Quest.”)

It seems Hollywood was reading my mind with the news that Weaver has been cast in the upcoming sci-fi comedy, “Paul.”

The movie is being produced by Universal and Working Titles and will focus on two sci-fi fans (Simon Pegg, Nick Frost) who come across an escaped alien (voiced by Seth Rogen) near Area 51 and try to help it escape.  Weaver’s role is being kept under wraps at the moment, according to Variety.

After “Paul” wraps, Weaver will continue working in the comedy field with Kristen Bell in “You Again.”    The actress has only recently wrapped up work on James Cameron’s “Avatar.”

After reading the headline, just like the author of this article my first thought was Qalaxy Quest, The Series!
