I admit it looks good, but would it kill someone if they did something original?

    Some ideas for a mini-series:

1.) Stranger in a Strange Land by R. Heinlein

2.) Childhods End by A. Clarke

3.) Cities in Flight by J. Blish

4.) The Dunwich Horror by Lovecraft

    Please, no more remakes!

I’ve always wanted to see “Childhoods End” on the big or small screen but given how it ends (no spoilers) I’m afraid someone would try to give it a more up beat ending rather than what was written.

Now, about this new remake of “V” I was a litte wary of this remake but generally open to the idea. Personally I wanted to see Ken Johnson’s long awaited sequel but I digress.

Much to my pleasant surprise this really looks good and while I can’t quite pin it down, the series definately has a slight retro look or feel. It doesn’t quite feel like something that was made that recently.

Childhood’s End would be interesting, but given how the story is told through a bunch of different timeframes it would be pretty hard to do correctly. And yes, the ending would be a bit of a downer.

Jason–I aggree. The thing with me is that when I watch this preview I think about 1990s science fiction tv shows. Seeing aliens on earth like this makes me think of Men in Black, Independence Day, and Roswell. Things that really bring me back to the 90s.

Okay I’m going to come out and say it. I am excited to see what their going to do with this. I never saw “V” in any of its forms. This doesn’t look original, but it looks good. I can’t put my finger on why. Maybe its the cast, maybe its the suspense I feel from it, maybe its just the fact that I wan5 scifi to work on tv, but I am really excited for this show.

A show does not need to be original to be good. Can they tell an unoriginal story in a original way? The answer to this question is what will keep be wacthing.

There seems to be something here. This show has some potential, lets see if it can live up to the trailer. .

I want them to do this like BSG. They could really deal with some issues here. But the trailer doesn’t make it seem gritty like BSG. Oh, well.

Emily, here is the thing some people don’t seem to get, even before the original “V” mini-series Kenneth Johnsons story wasn’t new. Its about facism, right & wrong choices, resisting and standing up to tyranny & basically about freedome. These things and his mini-series were an old story. He just found a new way to tell it.

I think the new mini-series is doing the same thing, its the re-telling of a story as old as human civilization but in a different way for a new audience. Some can complain all they want about how Hollywood does nothing but remakes but really there are new stories, just new ways of spinning them for each generation. I think Kenneth Johnsons version was great because it was a clear allegory to Nazi Germany & totalatarism.

I’m not sure if this version will use said Nazi Germany as an allegory to tell this story but to be sure it will be about those ancient and current conflicts of facism and subverting a group of people for another partys benefit. Sorry if I’m ranting a little much but I believe “V” is an old story that bears repeating to a new generation. So weather its told arround a camp fire or from the glow of an HD plasma screen its still the same message.

Personally I was skeptical but now I’m sold and I just hope its not going to be a let down.

I so wanted to gripe and complain about remakes, but this one looks like it might stand a chance.

Hopefully this can be sci-fi with a message instead of just a drama with scifi drapery. That being said, I hope they go for something other than the holocaust, or at least not so thinly veiled.

Did Morena have to cut her hair?

It looks interesting enough to try. I loved the original, hokey as it was, so I will give this a go. Morena looked different – I guess she wanted to have a different look than the exotic bombshell. She looks good, though, and slightly creepy.

No offense to Jane Badler who was great as Dianna in the original mini-series but Morena Baccarin really projects a real sense of menace. I think Jane Badler had a more seductive and manipultive quality to her character and Morena makes it clear that she is not going to play nice. I think it will be interesting to see how these actors play humanoid repiles and what they take from nature in the portrayal of these repitlian people.
