“Chuck” Renewed

May 18, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 13 Comments

We did it!  “Chuck” will be back for a third season.

USA Today and the Hollywood Reporter confirm the series has been given a green light for a third season of 13 episodes.  No word yet on when the series will air.  That news should come later today.

The series had to make some budget-cuts in order to get a renewal, which is a trend among returning series.

We’ll bring you details on when you can see “Chuck” next fall as soon as we have it.

This is great news! What a wonderful way to start the week. I absolutely love this show and it is one of the main reasons I tune into NBC each Monday.

    Woohoo!

(And yet, why not a full season, NBC? Why only 13?)

    Robin,

Just a reminder that last year NBC only gave “Chuck” a 13 episode renewal when the renewal was announced. The network exercised the option for nine more episodes after seeing the first few installments of season two.

    Maybe that will happen here.

A lot of NBC series are getting the 13 episode order because of the “Leno-ization” of their evening lineup. I personally think it stinks, but I don’t really mind much since I still get my Chuck 🙂

Also, the cable 13 episode stylings is now beginning to be followed by network television.

13 quality episodes instead of 22 mediocre ones, I’ll take that any day. I’m not calling Chuch mediocre but it seems that shows get better when they have shorter seasons in general. Look at HBO, Showtime, and BBC shows.

At least talk shows haven’t taken over the whole network.
