Despite poor reviews, the sequel to “The DaVinci Code,” “Angels and Demons” took the top spot at the box-office this weekend. The re-teaming of Tom Hanks in the lead role and Ron Howard in the director’s chair lifted the film to a solid $48 million opening tally.
Falling to second was last week’s top draw, the latest installment in the “Star Trek” franchise. The new Trek movie took in another $43 million. In just over ten days at the box-office, “Star Trek” has taken in $147 million, making it the largest grossing movie in the franchise’s long history beating out previous record holder “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”.
“X-Men Origin: Wolverine” was third with just over $14 million. Romantic comedy “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” was fourth and “Obsessed” rounded out the top five.
