“Chuck” Wins “USA Today” Save Our Shows Survey

April 30, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

The votes are in and the winner is: “Chuck.”

The annual USA Today “Save Our Shows” survey found that 54% of those voting in the 12th annual survey want a third season of the NBC dramedy.  The show took first place, ahead of CBS’s “Without a Trace” and “Cold Case.”  ABC’s “Castle” came in fourth overall in the voting.

More than 43,000 fans cast their votes during the 10-day online poll, up sharply from last year, when the strike-shortened season sparked renewals of many borderline series.

“Chuck” was tops in several key demographic categories that may be of interest to NBC.  Those are: male voters, teens and twenty-somethings, thirty-somethings and forty-somethings.

NBC is scheduled to unveil their schedule for next year Monday.

I’ve got my figers crossed, daily prayesd and several rabbits feet (just to cover all the bases) hoping that Chuck gets renewed…

Kind of an strange poll, since most of the shows in the poll were between a yawn and abysmally boring…Chuck is mildly entertaining, but is bland in comparison with other scifi genre television shows…

“Chuck” is about as bland as a Habanero pepper. It’s not SF, it is an adventure/comedy. The characters are interesting and the stories enjoyable. Dropping “Chuck” would be the second worst insult to viewers after only the debacle of “Kyle XY.”

Chuck is an excellent show. It has humer and exitment. It is original and not just a copy of other shows, which too many of the shows on TV today are. It would be sad to lose such a good show.
