“Moon” Only Opening in Two Cities

April 29, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 8 Comments

The upcoming sci-fi movie “Moon” is set to open June 12th and according to the posters and publicity material “at a theater near you.”

Apparently “near you” is translated as New York and Los Angeles.

According to io9.com, Sony Pictures Classic has booked the new Sam Rockwell film for those two markets for the opening weekend.  There is no word on if the film would expand into other markets if it does well.

io9 encourages anyone not in those two cities to start politely proesting Sony Pictures Classic for more cities for the relase.

I wonder if they see it as too close to a remake of Solaris to be profitable ?

This should spread faster than swine flu if the early buzz is true.
