For months, we’ve heard rumors about back-to-back production and filming for “Spider-Man 4” and “Spider-Man 5.” Maybe someone should have asked director Sam Raimi about that.
Raimi recently told MTV News that he’s currently working on “Spider-Man 4” and only “Spider-Man 4.”
“The writers, producers and I are working out what the story will be, but we haven’t been talking in terms of Part 4 and 5.” Raimi told MTV News. “I’ve read that [about ‘Spider-Man 5’] also, but right now we’re just working on the story for ‘Spider-Man 4,’ just that one film.
“We’re definitely talking about working from all the material in the comic books and nothing [invented] outside of that,” Raimi continued. “All the characters or villain or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee’s creations or those that came after him.”
Raimi said the identity of the villain or villains won’t be revealed just yet.
He went on to say that while Toby McGuire is signed on to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man, that his actress Kirsten Dundst hasn’t signed on to play Mary Jane Watson. However, getting her back is a priority for the director.
“I can’t imagine making a ‘Spider-Man’ movie without Kirsten,” he said, seemingly contemplating the idea in his head with a long pause. “Of course it can be done because Spider Man has existed without the character of Mary-Jane but she’s one of my favorite parts and it would be a shame not to have her in the picture. I’m hoping she’ll be in it and I’m planning on having a story with her in it.”

If they promise to keep Peter Parker from dancing in the next one, I promise I’ll go see it in the theater.

I would love a Spider-man movie without Kristen Dunst. She just provides someone for the villians to kidnap at the end and make her scream a lot. Let’s bring in the Black Cat.
Also, all comic book movies are better with one villian at a time. Whenever two villans team up, it ruins it. (i.e. Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Spiderman 3) I would probably include Batman Returns but Catwoman played a bigger role than just villan, but I hated it when Catwoman goes to the Penguin and says “let’s combine forces against the bat.”
Batman Begins was the only example of it working, but I think it was because Scarcrow wasn’t “teaming up” with Ra’s Al-Ghul per se.
