This keeps up, and the studios will be asking for government bailouts next.

Remakes are never as good as the originals so I don’t want to see any remakes.
    I want original material.

So, if Hollywood does get a government bailout, will all of the stars be limited to $500,000 in compensation – like the bank CEOs?

Could this spread to the NBA, NFL, etc.?

None of these are movies I gave a second viewing of the original. Oddly enough, I would likely rent the remakes, but more because I’m hard-pressed for new content in my Netflix queue than because of any inherent interest in the projects.

If we are talking re-makes. Why shouldn’t walt disney re-make
“The Cat From Outer space” Staring Garfield the Cat.

Uhh they just did a direct-to-DVD remake of WarGames last year. It sucked.

    Logan’s Run could be good…

C’mon Hollywood get some of your own dam ideas. What’s next.. Goonies, Time Bandits, Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Legend? They better not touch Goonies or Legend! Hollywood Sucks!!

I liked to see Total Recall with Arnold playing the bad-CEO Ronnie Cox role this time.

Maybe they’ll remake Conan the Barbarian with Schwarzenegger as Thulsa Doom.

remakes can be better, take BSG for instance. But normally they are not. It all depends on who is doing it, and what creative freedom the studio will allow. Hollywood cheese sucks, hardcore sci-fi will be fantastic. I hope Logan’s Run gets the harcore sci-fi treatment.

I would love to see a Logan’s Run remake. I have wanted that for years now. First saw the original in mid ’90’s and thought that it was a stupendous movie, given the technology of the time it was made. Imagine how great it could be with modern day movie and computer technology.

Spare us from the awful re-make. The only two remakes I ever saw that I liked were The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Tron 2, hands down. Not exactly a remake but have been waiting for this for like ever.

in non-genre related movies, probably Last House on The Left

  16. Bill T. says

Plan 9 From Outer Space could use a remake.

  17. AJCrane says

Well, I would really like to see what they could do with the CGI on Logan’s Run, The Never Ending Story, and Heman. As for Dark Crystal, I know they are making a SEQUEL, not a remake, and I am looking forward to that.

The only remake that would peak my interest is Logan’s Run, just to see how different the movie would be without all the 60’s bright orange colors. Of course if they remake it now, it’ll have shiny silver and glossy CG instead.

We have now entered the time where the People In Charge in the movie business have never read a frackin’ book ever in their lives.
All they know how to do is rehash TV shows and movies they say when they were little kids.
Back in The Day, they adapted books and plays.
“Ripped from the pages of the novel by…!!!” was seen on movie trailers.
Why the hell are people REMAKING movies that were just made TWENTY YEARS AGO?!?
Have any of these people read something they thought would make a great film?
Hell…we’re about to see a movie adaptation of Watchmen. Which was, up until just recently, believed to be UNFILMABLE.
I don’t even care if it’s not that good. It’ll at least be NEW. It’ll be something we haven’t seen.
    It.Won’t.Be.A.REMAKE.
    Damn.

  20. TallGrrl says

    March 3, 2009 at 7:17 pm

Sorry for the typo. That sentence should read:

“All they know how to do is rehash TV shows and movies they SAW when they were little kids.”

  21. TallGrrl says

And unless they’re going to remake Logan’s Run being faithful to the book and making most of the characters UNDER 21, then they need to keep their stinkin’ hands off of it.
The movie they did was horrible.
I’d read the book and loved it. I guess it resonated with me because I wasn’t yet 21 and the idea of….oops. I won’t spoil it.
But when I saw the movie, I was absolutely appalled.

the moment these assholes touch E.T. the extra terrestrial, I will have lost all faith in Hollywood whatsoever.

Logan’s Run from the 70s needed better effects.
If they produce something with visual effects along the lines of “I, Robot” with the edge of “THX 1138” for example, this could be a winner.

Lets save the remake from Carousel and send it to Sanctuary.

I am really looking forward to “Dune” by Peter Berg
