“Dollhouse” Debuts in Second

“Dollhouse” Debuts in Second

February 16, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

There’s good news and bad news for Friday night’s debut of Fox’s sci-fi Friday.

The good news is Joss Whedon’s new series, “Dollhouse” improved on the ratings of its lead-in series, “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” Friday evening.  The bad news is the move to Fridays didn’t help jump-start the ratings for “Sarah Connor” which may be the final nail in the coffin for the struggling sci-fi drama.

“Sarah Connor” started the evening with 3.71 million and a 1.4/5 with the 18-49 crowd in initial overnight numbres.  “Dollhouse” built on that attracted 4.7 million viewers in its debut, good enough for second for the evening.  “Dollhouse” helped Fox double its female viewers in the hour over “Sarah Connor.”

And while the ratings aren’t enough to declare “Dollhouse” a hit, they may be enough for Fox to give the series a chance on Fridays.

Meanwhile, iTunes reports that downloads of “Sarah Connor” are tenth overall for the week and downloads of “Dollhouse” currently rank nineteenth.

The current leader for iTunes episode sales–“Battlestar Galactica.”

After a poor cliffhanger of a show, the return of terminator was less than I hoped. The whole Sarah-Reese thing was . . . uninteresting. The Riley thing is just becoming annoying. Cameron was barely in there, and the only bright spot (I reluctantly say) was the liquid terminator cleaning house.

I know they said the last nine episodes were supposed to be amazing, stupendous, shocking, surprising, and a thrill ride, but I hope they meant the last eight.

I only hope that they (TtSCC) anticipate the end coming, and plan for the worst. I’d hate for this thing to get canceled and we don’t have a satisfactory ending. Maybe something that would lead well into the next movie or something. Or something that would lead well into the 3rd movie… I don’t know. This whole Terminatorverse has gotten a little hard to follow. Anyway, I’m just hoping for some closure. I’ve been dissapointed so many times now, I don’t even like to watch stuff like this any more.

“The Sarah Connor Chronicles” takes place after the third movie (time-wise), unless you mean something that would lead into the events of judgment day.
