Jason Lee is out but Zachary Levi is in for the “Alvin and the Chipmunks” sequel according to Variety. Levi will play a cousin to Jason Lee’s character from the first film and will tangle with the famous “trio” of Alvin, Simon and Theodore.
Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney returns as the chipmunks’ voices.
Also new to the franchise will be the Chipmunks’ rivals, the Chipettes — Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor — who were introduced in the 1980s animated TV series.
Levi currently stars as Chuck Bartowski on NBC’s “Chuck.” He has also appeared in “Big Momma’s House 2.”

Please say it ain’t so!
I have nothing to say about Alvin2, other than my son watches the first film just about every other day, and we all know it word for word now!
I would like to point out that the “famous duo” is in fact a trio!!!!
“…the famous duo of Alvin, Simon and Theodore.”
That would make it a trio.
Besides that.. I ‘ve gotta say… Chuck + The Chipmunks… not a combination I’ll be running out to see.
