“Torchwood” Coming to New York ComicCon

“Torchwood” Coming to New York ComicCon

January 26, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

American fans will get a sneak peak at the upcoming third series of “Torchwood” as part of a panel at the upcoming New York ComicCon.

The panel will take place on Saturday, February 7 at 4:15 p.m. at the annual convention. The panel will also feature actress Eve Miles and director Euros Lynn, who will talk about their experiences on the show and what fans can look forward to in the upcoming season.

The Javits Center, location of New York ComicCon, will feature a massive billboard with all-new imagery from the upcoming U.S. premiere season, as well as a teaser running on a jumbotron and monitors inside the building.

Titled “Children of Earth,” the new series will be a five-part mini-series event and will debut on both the BBC and BBC America on the same day, according to early reports. The mini-series is set to air later this summer.

“Torchwood face their toughest battle to date in this new series,” said series creator Russell T Davies. “This latest threat causes global shockwaves and the team has to fight with everything they’ve got to survive. Viewers are in for a real treat.”

It’s not really a typical miniseries, right? Isn’t it actually just five regular-length episodes in a row? (Similar, I suppose to the first season of “The 4400”.)

That was my impression. From what I’ve come to understand, Torchwood is changing channels in Britain and this mini-series is a way to draw in new viewers before the series returns in full form next year.
