Playboy Creates “Mobisodes”

Playboy Creates “Mobisodes”

December 11, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Long a player in the digital world, Playboy has begun offering exclusive content for mobile phone users according to USA Today.

Playboy is offering downloadable “mobisodes” –- mobile-based video shorts -– that show three interns hard at work. The shorts, filmed last summer in and around Playboy’s New York office on Fifth Avenue in midtown, are free.

Playboy began offering the “mobisodes” for download on Monday with the first mobisode following interns who are given digital cameras and sent into the streets of New York City to scout for candidates for the 100th Cyber Girl, the online version of the magazine’s Playmate.

Future episodes will include helping a Playmate get a pedicure and a lingerie fitting (for a Playmate, not the interns). Playboy is using the shorts as an advertising vehicle – for got2b hair gel, for example – which the interns distribute, in sample size, as one assignment.

Playboy Playmates, “Rock the Rabbit” musical artists and other Playboy-licensed products are also featured. The interns’ end-of-summer sendoff, at a hip hotel in New York’s ultra-cool meatpacking district, underscores the tagline: “Minimum Wage, Maximum Perks.”

To view, go to Playboy’s mobile Web site or MySpace. You can also text the word “interns” to a short code — 75269 (PLBOY) –- to get mobisodes on cellphone.

It should be noted that both of the links above are probably NSFW.  (Not Safe for Work)

Great just what we need. Like it’s not bad enough that people drive like idiots because they are always messing around with their cell phones. Now we are going to have people watching porn as they drive.
