Crochet Your Own Dalek

Crochet Your Own Dalek

December 4, 2008 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

Forget the long, multi-colored scarf made popular by the fourth Doctor.  If you’ve got a Doctor Who fan on your Christmas list this year and you can crochet, you might think about making him or her their very own chrocheted Dalek.

The pattern and instructions are available free from the creator on Etsy.com.

The creator asks, “If you are so inclined, please make a charitable donation via my PayPal link on this page to help a family in need. My friends have a baby boy who recently underwent surgery for a rare heart defect(http://babymichal.blogspot.com/). He is just a few months older than my daughter. Watching our babies grow has been a great thing. It has also been heartbreaking, terrifying and hopeful as I see them struggle. I count my blessings and wonder how they can endure so much.

“He is now home after many weeks. This is great news. But I know Michal’s family will feel a financial strain and people tend to forget about helping after getting past the stress of merely surviving.

“So if you can afford it, please donate. Any amount will be accepted, no matter how small. The funds will be donated anonymously. So if you know Tim and Antje, please don’t spill the beans.

“I think it would be amazing to see an army of daleks marching ‘round the world while helping out this family,” said the creator.

“Donate if you can and if you can’t afford it, please make as many daleks as you like without guilt! Be sure to send me images via email so I can compile a gallery and map where these evil aliens are populating our planet,” the creator asks.

What could possibly be better this holiday season than your own crocheted, driven-to-conquer the universe Dalek?
