I’m gonna say Superman, just ’cause I’m infuriated at how close Smallville gets to becoming an actual Supes TV series without actually doing it.

Agreed. None of the above. Either it’s been done already or it’s not the type of story that would work in a serial format.

So, I’m saying Harry Potter, though I think animated might work better, and then they could follow the story of the books a little more closely. If they did one book per season they could have a nice 7 year run.

I chose James Bond, but really I wanted to choose None of the Above. These franchises have already been beaten to death as it is, so why stretch them out more by making them weekly TV shows?

I’m choosing none of the above as well. Those franchises have either already been done on TV (Batman, Star Trek, Superman), or they’ve been overdone in the theaters…and with some of them, there was really nothing THERE with them to begin with.

Contrary to what TV is trying to make us believe (that there are no new ideas), there ARE new ideas.

I voted for Dune. There’s a lot of source material for episodes.

I think James Bond is perfect the way it is (movies every couple of years).

I’m not surprised to see so many votes for Star Trek, but Jesus H, how many chances do you give that franchise? I would totally watch it if they made another TV series, but I could live without the disappointment too.

And aren’t they making a live action Star Wars? So that one shouldn’t even be on the list.

Also, to add one to the list: Usagi Yojimbo. I think that property would make a great 30 minute animated series. Or even animated movies like the’ve doen with Hellboy Animated and the new Futurama. Traditional animation though. He’s already made a few guest starring appearances in TMNT. It’s about time Usagi got a little more attention.

I’d like to see Harry Potter,
But after he grows up a little bit,
    and graduates from school,
    and becomes an Aural,
    then a private detective,
then he changes his last name to Dresden…

Aren’t they making a live-action “Star Wars” series?

NONE of the above. I agree with most of the previous statements – they’ve either been done to death or there isn’t enough there to make an interesting or meaningful series out of them. The possible exception being Batman, but we’ll see if he can stay relevant even in the rebooted series. I have doubts.

There are old TV properties that could be retooled into something useful with the right writers, actors, etc. Lost in Space? Johnny Quest? Earth 2?

Or how about some canceled shows that still have stories to tell? Firefly anyone? Dresden? Angel, Wonderfalls, etc. Sheesh. But no, the same putzes that cancelled these shows before are the ones that take a question like this and the above choices seriously. To everyone’s regret.

    Rant ends.

If done correctly…Star Trek can never be overdone.

I think the Matrix world could be interesting on a weekly basis if done right. My second choice is Harry Potter simply because you can’t go wrong with supernatural high school stories. The superheroes seem to work better in animated form, and the rest I don’t think would translate to series format well.

Come on, Star Wars, of course. Couple of people are asking why it’s there because they are already making one. Haven’t seen much talk about that from Lucafilm since the success of Clone Wars TV show. With the cost of one of those episodes, I’m starting to doubt they’ll do a live action one. If not, how about an animated one during original trilogy timeline. About the Rebels on the run between a New Hope and Empire. They could get a whole bunch of unknown voice actors and Anthony Daniels to do it.
