Hick’s Picks 50

October 30, 2008 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

The Simpsons’ producer Producer Al Jean predicts there will be least three more seasons of the animated series.

“The cast is signed for three more years, so I would now say it’s about a 90 percent chance we’ll come back for at least one of those three,” Jean said.

“I actually think it’s better than a 50 percent chance we’ll do three more years of this at least,” Jean told The Post.

The animated series recently began its 20th season on the air. The annual Halloween special “Treehouse of Horror XIX” airs this Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.

Paramount has acquired the rights to graphic novel; “Agnes Quill: An Antholgy of Mystery” by Dave Roman.

The book follows the adventures of the title character as she inherits an estate from her late Grandfather… along with ability to see and communicate with the dead.

The film is to be a live action pic directed by Thor Freudenthal, who helmed next year’s Hotel for Dogs, and will be adapted for the screen by Evan Stiliopolous, who most recently adapted another graphic novel, The Last Call, for Universal.

Director Darren Aronofsky says the upcoming “RoboCop” film will be a relaunch and not a continuation for the popular series.

“I’m a big fan of the original,” Aaronofsky told Empire Magazine. “It still holds up as an amazing film, and I think it’s more just looking at that same type of material in the 21st century and seeing where it leads us.”

The director didn’t provide details on what elements of the original film would carry over to the update or if there would be an opportunity for the original RoboCop, Peter Weller, to make a cameo.

Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix has decided to retire from acting to focus on his singing career.

This isn’t the first time Phoenix has “retired” from the business. He previously retired following the death of his brother, River.

The ratings for Monday’s episode of “Heroes” are looking anything but heroic. The series earned a 4.9 rating, its lowest rating ever. A repeat episode of “Gary Unmarried” on CBS drew a larger audience share than the NBC drama.

Overall, NBC’s Monday schedule took a big hit from Fox’s World Series coverage and ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
