The trend in television is for new series to lose viewership from the first to second episodes. In the case of Fox’s new series “Fringe” the opposite has proven to be true with the second episode getting a bump in ratings.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the “Fringe” audience increased 47% from the 9.1 million viewers the first week to 13.4 million viewers the second.  The ratings surge is the second-largest for a series since 1991 reports Fox.
The reason for the surge in viewers?
The lead-in for “Fringe” this week was the fifth season premiere of the popular medical drama “House.”  “House” scored 14.4 million viewers and was the most-watched show of the evening.  The strong lead in helped “Fringe” with a good portion of the audience staying tuned to Fox. Also in the postitive news cateogry is “Fringe” held on to 90% of its lead-in audience for the hour.
