In 1997 the late Chris Farley starred in a film that spoofed the martial arts film craze with “Beverly Hills Ninja.” 11 years later Sony Pictures is ready to bank on a sequel.
“Beverly Hills Ninja 2,” will be another action comedy that begins production on October 6 with most of the film being shot in various locations around South Korea, specifically the Jeju Island.
Mitch Klebanoff, a writer and co-producer of the original Chris Farley film, has written the script for this follow-up and will also direct the sequel. Story revolves around an orphaned boy who wants to be a ninja but somehow gets involved in a crime in Hollywood while looking for his real parents.
David Hasselhoff (“Knight Rider,” “Baywatch”) Lucas Grabeel (“High School Musical”) and Taiwanese model-turned-actress Lin Chiling (“Red Cliff”) are set to star in the sequel.
If Sony had considered landing Kevin Farley for this one, hopefully, he was smart enough to say NO! Kevin is well on his way to making his own career. He need never try to fill his older brother’s shoes, especially with his highly anticipated Michael Moore spoof, “An American Carol.”
Isn’t Chris Farley dead? How could they make a sequel without the main character?
Unless, of course, they’re getting someone else to play the part. But who?
Yes Chris is and has been dead for several years now. Someone else will be stepping into the mix — most likely the young lad named in the article (Lucas Grabeel).
Wow. There just didn’t need to be a sequel. Why couldn’t they just give it a different name. Does saying “Beverly Hills Ninja 2” give it that much more box office pull??? I am actually offended by this.
