“Aladin” Sequel Greenlit Before Debut of First Film

“Aladin” Sequel Greenlit Before Debut of First Film

September 11, 2008 By Sam Sloan 4 Comments

“Aladin,” Bollywood’s answer to the famed Arabian Nights tale from director Sujoy Ghosh (“Home Delivery: Aapko… Ghar Tak”), wont get international release until later this year but producing company Eros Pictures has already given the thumbs-up for a sequel.

“We are very proud of ‘Aladin’ as it is a 100% Indian product and are very confident of its universal appeal among audiences,” stated Eros International chairperson Kishore Lilla. “We will continue to invest our faith in such cinema which can be watched across the globe and ‘Aladin 2’ will be a bigger challenge in every aspect as it will be many times more than ‘Aladin 1’.”

“Aladin” stars Amitabh Bachchan (“God Tussi Great Ho”) as he Genie from the lamp, Sanjay Dutt (“Kidnap”), Riteish Deshmukh (“Chamku”) is Aladin and Jackie Fernandes portrays Jasmine.

“Aladin” is expected to be India’s most special effects laden film to date. Eros has hired Charles Darby of “Titanic,” “The Matrix” and “Harry Potter” fame to create all the needed digital effects that this film will use.

The movie will be released in theaters simultaneously in India and the United States on November 21, 2008.

Your article would hold more weight if you spelled the name of the film correctly: Aladdin (with 2 D’s).

ahhhh….while the West may spell it with two D’s, the film from India, will be spelling it with one D. Perhaps your comment would hold more weight if you would have done a little research before making it.

Sounds like a great film. And Sam is correct in his spelling. Hey they won a Parsec, they know their stuff. Congrads Sam and the crew, very well deserved.
