New “Legend of the Seeker” Publicity Photos

August 29, 2008 By S. K. Sloan 5 Comments

We have the latest publicity shot from Disney Pictures for the upcoming syndicated fantasy series “Legend of the Seeker,” which is being produced by Sam Raimi and based on Terry Goodkind’s “Wizard’s First Rule and The Sword of Truth.”

[Pictured in the ABC Photo are: Craig Horner as Richard Cypher and Bridget Regan as Kahlan]

“Legend of the Seeker” picks up during the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father told in “The Sword of Truth.” According to author Terry Goodkind, ( who is also the writer for several of the TV series scripts), a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher’s forest sanctuary seeking help…and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence. In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword-to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed…or that their time has run out. This is the beginning. One story. One Rule. Witness the birth of a legend.

The series begins airing in syndication beginning November 1, 2008. Check your local listings for time and channel.

I’ll be so embarassed if I end up liking this. It’s a strange tug of war. I dig Sam Raimi but I can’t stand TG’s work. Maybe a few well placed re-writes can make it enjoyable. . . we’ll see. I hope for the sake of the fans and the genre that it does well. Maybe it will open doors for other fun projects.

I read terry goodkind in high school and found it to be an excellent read. this will be an interesting series goodkind has a great story and it would be good to share it with the majority of non readers out there. I still hope they pick the book up after, but if wishes were wings we would all fly. Still looking forward to it, it should be much better than trying to cram the story into a 2 hour or even three hour movie.
