“Lost” creator and new “Star Trek” guru J.J. Abrams will shake-up the movie industry by making a new disaster flick about a major earthquake.
The famed director/writer/producer says it won’t be a remake of the 1974 film which starred Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner and George Kennedy, but will be a whole new idea on the familiar scenario. David Seltzer, the screenwriter of the original “Omen,” is set to write the script for this as-yet-untitled movie.
As usual, Abrams is being incredibly tight-lipped about his ideas for the film. He has indicated he won’t be sitting center-seat but will be taking on the role of producer.
Abrams is currently in post-production on the highly anticipated “Star Trek” movie due out May 2009 and with development for a sequel to his monster hit “Cloverfield.” Seltzer is busy with the script for “Strangers On a Train.” No word yet on when production will begin for this next earthquake.
