Film That Made Fans Call for Boll’s Head Now On DVD

Film That Made Fans Call for Boll’s Head Now On DVD

July 22, 2008 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

“Postal,” the movie that enraged moviegoers so much that they called on the controversial director to resign his seat as a filmmaker, will be available on DVD and Blu-rayâ„¢ High-Def begining August 26, 2008.

The package will come loaded for action with the Postal PC Videogame and a special featurette titled “Raging Boll” in which Uwe Boll literally goes into the ring and boxes his critics!

One of this year’s most talked about theatrical releases from controversial Director Uwe Boll, “Postal” is his first English-language comedy delivering a sharp and funny look at contemporary life in America. All versions of the “Postal” DVD release will include “Postal 2: Share the Pain,” the PC videogame that inspired the film. The standard rated and unrated versions are both priced at $26.99 SRP (USD). The unrated Blu-rayâ„¢ High-Def version will be available for $34.99 (USD). Postal has a pre-book date of July 29, 2008.

“Postal” stars Zack Ward (“Transformers,” “A Christmas Story”), Dave Foley (“News Radio”), J.K. Simmons (the Spiderman trilogy), Jackie Tohn (“On the Lot”), Larry Thomas (AKA the Soup Nazi from “Seinfeld”),Verne Troyer (“The Love Guru,” “Austin Powers”) and Erick Avari (“Mr. Deeds”).

A cult leader (Dave Foley), his nephew (Zack Ward) and a gang of sexy commandos face off against the Taliban in an epic battle that will determine the fate of the world in an outrageously funny, over-the-top spoof of the American way of life.

Additional DVD bonus features include a behind-the-scenes featurette, director commentary, Verne Troyer dressed as Indian Jones challenging Harrison Ford, and more.

Uwe Boll is considered one of the most controversial director/producers working in film today. His adaptations of popular videogames, including BloodRayne, starring Ben Kingsley and Alone in the Dark, starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid, have attracted worldwide attention. After BloodRayne was trashed on the internet by self-proclaimed “Boll Bashers,” Uwe challenged his critics to a boxing match. Four takers accepted and the match took place in Vancouver during the filming of Postal, the footage of which is included in the special featurette “Raging Boll.” Three of the critics he boxed with agreed to play small parts in Postal.

“Uwe Boll has a tremendous fan base and he never fails at inspiring controversy and exciting audiences.” said Jim Brenock, vice president marketing, Vivendi Entertainment. “We have packed the DVD and Blu-ray™ High-Def releases of Postal with many must-see extras that are sure to please fans and win over new ones.”

    Awsome!

This goes into my NetFlix queue on Blu-Ray before I actually order the thing. Can’t wait.

Why? I’ve sat through 2 of his movies and while they weren’t by any standard good, they didn’t even have the cache of being ‘so bad it’s good.’

Boll is just a mediocre film maker who’s famous for being an aggresive loudmouth who can’t stand criticism.

The petition to get Uwe Boll to stop making films was around long before he even started making Postal. To be honest, his work as a Director isn’t that bad, it’s his writing that sucks! If he’d stop writing the scripts himself and just direct, he could probably make a decent movie that makes some money.

I was wondering how many of the people commenting about this movie have played the game. If there is only 2 minutes difference between the “un” and the “rated” versions, this movie is way tamer then I was hoping for.
