Eccleston in the Cockpit

Ex-“Doctor Who” and “Heroes” star Christopher Eccleston has joined the cast for the new Amelia Earhart film starring Academy Award winner Hiliary Swank.

The film, titled “Amelia” will examine the early life of the first famous female aviator who, along with her navigator Fred Noonan, mysteriously disappeard while flying over the Pacific in 1937. She was attempting to be the first pilot and female to circumnavigate the globe in a plane. Eccelston will play Amelia’s navigator Fred Noonan.

Also in the cast for “Amelia” is an all-star lineup including Richard Gere (George Putnam), Virginia Madsen (Dorothy Binney Putnam) and Ewan MacGregor (Gene Vidal).

Eccleston is also attached to star in the growing ensemble cast of “G.I. Joe” as the villain named Destro.

    This is great news. Like a lot of projects Chris gets involved in, this is something I’d want to see anyway, but having him involved makes me that much more anxious to see it.
