“Cloverfield” Now on Blu-ray

The J.J. Abrams produced, Matt Reeves directed film about the monster who ate New York City is now available on Blue-ray disc.

The Cloverfield Blu-ray will include an exclusive feature-length “Special Investigation Mode” with added details about the film, which were not part of the standard DVD release several weeks ago.

Additional features include a director commentary, Making Of featurettes, deleted scenes, alternate endings with commentary and more.

    I’m not quite sure what the alure of Cloverfield on BluRay is. The entire movie was supposed to be shot on a standard definition video camera. Firstly, the extra detail won’t be there in the first place, second, it would take away from the premise if there was.

    Here’s a quote from the film’s director, Matt Reeves:

    “Even though we shot the whole movie on a Handycam, it was actually shot in HD. I’m excited for people to see [the monster] in its full, pristine environment.”

    Not only do you get an amazing picture, but the Dolby TrueHD surround is top-notch.

    Plus, the Special Investigation Mode has a ton of important information about the movie. Highly recommended!
