“Arena” Coming to Big Screen

April 28, 2008 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

There is a new SF film on the horizon with a pretty interesting concept. Picture this:

A group of soldiers are mysteriously transported from the heart of a major battlefield to an area that undergoes a constant change in its terrain and war strategy. These crack soldiers are pitted against some of the best fighting men and women from different periods of Earth’s history and must fight in gladiatorial combat.

That is the premise behind Toby Wagstaff and Darren Howell’s new SF action-thriller titled “Arena” from Summit Entertainment.

Production will begin soon. Stay with Slice of SciFi for updates.

    To Steve T.,

Which episode are you thinking of?

    To The Slicers,

I think this sounds interesting. I would watch it in theater. Hopefully, the writers develop the characters of the soldiers enough so that we give a damn about their fate. If they succeed in that, then it could be a winner.

That would be the one with the Gorn.

Titled “Arena” which in turn was based on a short story by Fredric Brown interestingly enough titled “Arena”. Hum.

    10,000 Quatloos on the newcomers!

IIRC Doctor Who (the Second Doctor) also did an episode called “The War Games” on a similar premise.
