Cybill Shepherd will play the mom of series star James Roday in at least two episodes of USA Network’s comedy-drama “Psych.”
Shepherd’s character is described as psychologist and free spirit. When she returns from Europe to visit Shawn (Roday) and ex-husband Henry (Corbin Bernsen), she stirs up memories and issues — and a bit of trouble.
“Psych,” in which Roday plays a fake psychic who helps solve crimes, returns with new episodes July 18.
Shepherd most recently had a recurring role in Showtime’s lesbian soap “The L Word.”
She also played the character Maddie Hayes in the 1980’s series “Moonlighting”, alongside actor Bruce Willis.
