Sarah Connor “lead candidate” for renewal

Good news for fans of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Kevin Reilly, the president of FOX Entertainment, said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the freshman series is one of two “lead candidates” for renewal.

“We’ve already started staffing on Sarah Connor,” Reilly told the Reporter. “Although it was an unusual season, it will end up finishing by far and away the strongest new drama of the season. Other shows have not gotten the traction. Just because competition is softer doesn’t mean audience has to watch a show.”

EW offers first look at Watchmen action figures

Images of the first two Watchmen action figures have debuted on Entertainment Weekly’s web site. DC Direct has finished work on the first two collectible tie-ins to the anticipated big-screen adaptation of the Hugo-winning graphic novel.

The sneak peak offers a look at the figures for Rorschach and Nite Owl, modeled on next year’s Zach Snyder film.

Reports on Cinematical indicate that two more figures from the line will debut later this month at New York’s ComicCon.

Twilight author Meyer praises big-screen adaptation

Stephenie Meyer, author of the best-selling Twilight series for young-adults, wrote that fans of the series may “swoon” over the big-screen adapation of her popular novel.

Meyer recently visited the set and reported that actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are “channeling” Bella and Edward from the novel, adding “you might want to bring a paper bag to the movie, because their on-screen chemistry may cause hyperventilation.”

Meyer wrote that during the filming of a pivotal scene near the end of the story “the girl next to me literally slid right out of her chair — I think her bones melted. She also may have stopped breathing for a few seconds, too. I know I did.”

Twilight is the story of Bella, a seventeen-year-old girl who moves to Forkes, Washington to live with her father. She meets the mysterious Edward Cullen, who is a vampire and the two fall in love. The big-screen adaptation is set to open in theaters next year.

Rachel Nichols as Scarlett in upcoming G.I. Joe

A few weeks ago, G.I. Joe fans were salivating over USA Today’s first images of Snake Eyes from the upcoming live-action feature. Now fans may be salivating for a different reason with the official release of photos of actress Rachel Nichols as Scarlett in the upcoming feature film.

The image features Nichols with red hair and in Scarlett’s costume for the feature film.

The official line on Scarlett is that her full name is Shana M. O’Hara, according to the movie’s Wikipedia entry. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Although she is as adept with standard weapons as any of her comrades, her weapon of choice is the crossbow which fires various bolts with specialized functions. Her rank is Master Sergeant, and she serves from time to time as team leader. Her primary specialty for the team is counter intelligence and is additionally skilled in martial arts and acrobatics. Of note, her secondary military specialty remains classified in all of her file cards
