Bloom to star as Prince of Persia

Popular Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings star, Orlando Bloom has signed on to be part of a new Jerry Bruckheimer directed trilogy according to Hollywood.com. Bloom is set to star as the lead in the movie trilogy based on the popular Prince of Persia video-game series.

The first movie is an adaptation of the popular video-game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and is expected to hit theaters in the summer of 2008. According to reports, Bloom beat out Zac Efrom of High School Musical fame for the leading role.

UPDATE (4/8/08): Walt Disney Pictures has confirmed that stories about Bloom’s casting are incorrect according to the ComingSoon.net. We apologize for this error and thank the Mighty Shmoo for bringing this to our attention.

Boll will stop making movies if one million people sign a petition

Many of us have wondered just what it’d take to get director Uwe Boll to stop making movies.

Now we have an answer: one million signatures on this petition.

During a recent interview with Fear.net to promote his new films, Postal and Seed, the interviewer made Boll aware of the petition to get him to stop making films. When asked how many signatures it would take to get Boll to stop making films, Boll replied, “One million. Now we have a new goal.”

As it stands right now, the petition is 980,000 signatures short.

Ackles lands Valentine lead

Supernatural star Jason Ackles is in final negotiations to play the lead role in Patrick Lussier’s My Blood Valentine 3-D according to the Hollywood Reporter. The horror film is a remake of 1981’s My Bloody Valentine penned by Zane Smith.

Ackles will star as Tom, a “handsome principled man” who returns home to Harmony, Montana ten years after 22 people were murdered on Valentine’s night to catch up with his lost love played by Jaime King and where he’s a murder suspect.

The remake will be produced by Lionsgate. No word yet on a potential release date for the film.

Orlando Bloom Not the Prince of Persia
    Source: ComingSoon.net April 7, 2008

A rumor is spreading fast through the internet (we believe it originated at World Entertainment News Network, aka WENN) that Orlando Bloom has landed a $40 million payday to star in a movie trilogy based on the “Prince of Persian” video game. The rumor stated that he had beaten competition from Zac Efron to take the role and even said that Jerry Bruckheimer will direct.

Walt Disney Pictures, however, tells ComingSoon.net that there is no truth to these rumors.

What we do know so far is that Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) is expected to start shooting Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time soon at Pinewood Studios in the UK and in Morocco as well. Jerry Bruckheimer instead is producing the film, which the studio is targeting for a June 19, 2009 release.
