Fans of CBS’s on-the-bubble “Moonlight” are willing to do whatever it takes to keep the show on the air for a second season according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Teaming with the American Red Cross and the on-line YouChoose campaign manager, fans are organizing a nationwide blood drive to save the endangered series. The group claims to have 3,000 people who are willing to donate a pint of blood in order to keep the freshman drama around for its sophomore season.
The campaign is being organized by fans to help give CBS just an inkling of the fans’ passion for the show. The series, which is on the bubble though industry sources indicate it should get a renewal notice, has four new episodes left in its first season. But the fans of the show don’t want to rely on a probable pick-up and are making sure CBS takes notice of the passionate, loyal fanbase the series has generated.
“We wanted to celebrate the return of episodes and really focus attention on the show,” said Barbara Arnold, who helped promote the blood drive. “They say one pint of blood saves three lives. So if we can collect 3,000, wouldn’t that be nice?”
The blood drive has caught the attention of series star Alex O’Loughlin. He was so moved by the effort that sources close to him say he will be confirmed as a spokesperson for the American Red Cross later this week.
Any fan, or just plan humanitarian, who may want to take part in the campaign and give blood can sign-up at the YouChoose campaign site.

See now that is a worthy way of trying to keep a show on the air. Not rice or nuts. But giving blood. Something more people should do and a thing people really need every single day. Well done.
