Actor Hugh Jackman has teamed up with producer Marc Guggenheim (“Eli Stone”) to create a big screen, live-action adaptation of Virgin Comics’ “Nowhere Man.”
Jackman is set to star as the lead with Guggenheim penning the screenplay. Jackman’s Seed Production, along with Virgin Comics will produce with Seed’s John Palermo, Virgin’s Gotham Chopra and Sharad Devarajan acting as showrunners.
Guggenheim is no stranger to writing or adapting comics to other media. He has written for the “Amazing Spider Man,” as well as comics work for Marvel.
The setting for the storyline is a futuristic world in which humanity has willingly denied itself of all privacy and liberty just to feel safe, and the repercussions that ensue from that decision.
Jackman and Palermo, joint partners with Seed Productions are excited about this project.
“I’ve had so much fun in the graphic novel world with the ‘X-Men’ franchise that I wanted to get even more involved. I’m excited to work with Virgin and Marc and create a compelling character and story that hopefully will also make it to the big screen.”
“This is our [Seed’s] first comic, and we feel the concept is transferable to other arenas, perhaps first as a videogame, and then a movie,” Palermo said.
Jackman is currently busy down-under shooting his next X-Men flick “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” He will soon be seen on April 25 in the action drama titled “Deception,” and “Australia,” a Western with Nicole Kidman on Nov. 20. “Wolverine” is set for a May 1, 2009 release date.
