Frank Darabont’s adaptation of the popular Stephen King novella “The Mist” arrives on DVD Tuesday, March 25 and, as seems to be the pattern for Hollywood releases these days, there will be multiple releases of the film.
Fans who only want to see the film can pick up the single-disc release which will include an audio commentary by Darabont and several featurettes. On the featurettes menu, viewers can hear a conversation between King and Darabont about the film and watch eight deleted scenes.
But fans who want more of “The Mist” can pick up the two-disc special edition. In addition to the features of the single-disc release, consumers who get the two-disc set will get to see several more featurettes related to the creation of the horror/thriller.
However, the biggest extra and incentive to go for the two disc set is a black and white version of the film. This version of the film was created by Darabont, who toyed with the idea of making the entire film in black and white during the pre-production process. Early reports and reviews indicate this takes what is already reviewed as a fantastic horror film and makes it even more enjoyable and scary.
Both editions of “The Mist” hit stores tomorrow. Also, keep an eye out for our upcoming Slice of SciFi “The Mist” DVD contest coming soon.
