It’s All a “Shell Game”

March 11, 2008 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

lenwisemen.jpgWhat’s next for director Len Wiseman of “Live Free or Die Hard” fame? Lakeshore Entertainment and Columbia Pictures have signed the helmer to lead their “Shell Game” film project from Justin Bondi and Andrew Ludington’s original screenplay. Lakeshore and Columbia have also asked Wiseman and screenwriter Chris Morgan to tweak the existing script, according to Variety.

“Shell Game” is a film set in the not-too-distant future. This sci-fi action thriller follows a detective who is faced with a moral dilemma as he investigates the dangerous black-market business of selling immortality.

“I’ve been wanting to make this film for the past five years, but it’s a huge film and has always been too expensive to make at the level I’ve wanted to make it at,” Wiseman said. “Now I’m finally getting a chance to do it at that level.”

Genre fans will also remember Wiseman for his work as director on “Underworld” and “Underworld: Evolution.” He was also responsible for the script for those two vampire/werewolf features which were extreme box office success stories. Wiseman will be involved with the third film in the “Underworld” franchise as writer and producer for the prequel titled “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.”

Wiseman has the cred for sci-fi and genre-related movies having cut his teeth as a beginniner in the industry serving as an art and special effects-laden features techy for films like “Godzilla,” “Men in Black” and “Independence Day.”
