March 6, 2008 By Sam Sloan 4 Comments

“Watchmen” director Zack Snyder has given fans of the graphic novel a real treat by issuing these first look photos for five of the main characters in his film.

In the official Warner Bros. Production Blog he gives updates on how filming is moving along, as well as some of his own personal insights.

“Being a fan that follows production blogs, I know that the time a film is in post can often seem like an eternity with interesting bits of information few and far between. So to help pass the time, here is your first look at some of the Watchmen characters.” — Zack Snyder

“Watchmen,” based on the highly popular and critically praised graphic novel by Alan Moore, will be in theaters on March 6, 2009.

I’m very wary of this film, but these look great!

Overall, I think they look good. Nite Owl looks very tough and Batmanish as you would expect from somebody that could hang on the streets with Rorschach back in the day. Silk Spectre is as hot as I would expect! The Comedian’s absurd and slightly crazed look on his face is perfect. I can’t wait to see a better image of Rorschach. But Ozymandias I don’t like at all.

I will have to grab my copy of Watchmen to validate my memory, but didn’t Ozymandias wear a costume that has a lot more gold coloring? I don’t remember his costume being so dark. A dark costume goes completely against the nature of this character.

    They look great!!!!

My only nit is that the characters should be older. They were forced into retirement and have only resumed their identities to find out who’s killing them off. IIRC, Night Owl was over-weight. But, like I said, it’s only a nit. I think they captured the feel of the characters very well, especially The Comedian.

yeah, I remembered Night Owl Looking like and English teacher that sowed the costume himself. Everyone else looks great.
