Smallville’s Disappearing Cast

March 5, 2008 By Michael Hickerson 6 Comments

Yesterday, we reported that the CW granted “Smallville” an eighth season and offered speculation on whether or not Michael Rosenbaum would return to the role as Lex Luthor next year. (Rosenbaum has repeatedly stated he will not renew his contract after this season as a full-time cast member).

rosenbaum.jpgkruek.jpgToday’s Ask Ausiello column at our partners on TV Guide On-Line reports that not only has Rosenbaum opted out of his contract, Kristen Kreuk (Lana Lang) has also informed producers she won’t be back for the eighth season as a full-time cast member. While both actors have decided to step away from their weekly appearance on the show for next season, the door could be open for each to return on a recurring basis as guest stars.

What this means to the overall future of the story arc on “Smallville” and the series direction next year remains to be seen.

OK, I’m done. I am just done. The show was supposed to have ben over by now anyway, the creators had originally (IIRC) planned to do only a fiver year arc. Just kill the show and do the Green Arrow spin-off already!

ok here is my problem with michael roenbaum(akalex luthor) leaving .
is this gives him a chance to do the nightmare on elm st remake its only a rumor
but I have this gut feeling that hell beback after he trashes elm st and as far as lana go they should make here just like the comics close fashon person
and now that the new season has started time for the suit and glasses
