Governator Still Fit, Pushing Fitness & the Vote

March 3, 2008 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

schwarzenegger-signs-environment-bill.jpgCalifornia Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is in Ohio to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of his sports and fitness festival at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

The Governator was loved by the crowd assembled for the awards ceremony on Friday when he presented a series of awards at a women’s figure and fitness competition. He waved to the crowd, interviewed a few winners but did not make any kind of formal speech. The annual event culminated after featuring 17,000 competitors in 37 events and 12 Olympic sports. Schwarzenegger has been an avid supporter of this Columbus, Ohio event for nearly 20 years.

However, many feel that this year he had more on his plate than just the popular sporting awards to give away. His visit to the Buckeye State comes just days before the crucial presidential primary. Governor Schwarzenegger has openly endorsed John McCain, and while the Arizona Senator’s nomination as the Republican party’s candidate for president is likely, Schwarzenegger’s presence in the State is likely designed to help McCain put Huckabee out of the race for good.

Many have also been wondering if the Governor would be making a cameo in the next Terminator movie. However, the studio, producers, director and Schwarzenegger himself have laid that rumor to rest by indicating his schedule simply won’t allow it. But hey, we’re talking Hollywood and politics — anything can happen!
