Wes Craven has been tapped by Rogue Pictures and Focus Features to direct a new horror film called “25/8.” Craven has also penned the script for the feature film, his first since writing “Wes Craven’s New Nightmare” in 1994. Production on “25/8” is set to start sometime this April.
“25/8” will center on the return of a serial killer after he supposedly died 15 years earlier.
“It’s more a thriller than a slasher film,” stated Craven to Daily Variety. “[It] revolves around a young kid with a very dark past involving his family and his father.”
Rogue Pictures has also decided to remake an George Romero classic horror flick titled “Crazies,” about a small Pennsylvania community who become “crazy” after a plane crash dumps some of its biological material cargo into the town’s water supply.
Craven, who created the “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise is not connected to the new remake planned for next year. New Line and Michael Bay will now direct the next line of Freddy films.
“My baby has fallen into the hands of others,” Craven said. “What I can say but wish them luck.”
