Adams Pays Visit to the Museum

February 5, 2008 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

10f.jpgAmy Adams is in negotiations to star opposite Ben Stiller in 20th Century Fox’s “Night at the Museum 2: Escape From the Smithsonian,” according to Variety.

She will be playing one of the historical figures that Ben Stiller interacts with after several of the artifacts and objects from the Musem of Natural History, where Stiller’s character works as a night watchman, are moved to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.

Adams’ exact role has yet to be announced and besides Dick Van Dyke returning to reprise his role of Cecil, no other actors in this sequel have as yet been named. No word yet on if the legendary Mickey Rooney will be returning to reprise his role.

Shawn Levy, who directed the first film, is set to return to helm the sequel, which has a U.S. release date set for May 22, 2009.

Stiller has several new films coming out over the next two years including “The Hardy Men,” a look at the old Hardy Boys franchise from an adult perspective. He returns as Alex the Lion in the hit animated feature “Madagascar: The Crate Escape,” and two comedies — “Tropic Thunder,” and “The Marc Pease Experience.”

Adams most recently seen in the Disney hit movie “Enchanted,” was a big hit in the Tom Hanks film “Charlie Wilson’s War.” Besides “Museum 2,” Ms. Adams will be featured in at least four new films in 2008 and 2009 including the comedies “Sunshine Cleaning” and “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” a drama titled “Doubt,” and the Julie Powell bio-pic called “Julie & Julie.”
