January 28, 2008 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

For centuries, people have reported encounters with extraterrestrial beings. Is it…Hoax or History?

UFO HUNTERSâ„¢

On The History Channel®

New HD series premiere Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT

New York, NY, JAN. 28, 2008 — Are we alone in the universe? The question has always haunted humankind. Incidents involving UFOs and extraterrestrial life have been reported throughout history. UFO HUNTERS™, a new HD series on The History Channel, follows a group of experts as they subject some of history’s most intriguing UFO accounts, and the evidence surrounding them, to exhaustive scrutiny in an effort to uncover the actual facts. The series is a spinoff from the network’s hit program “UFO HUNTERS” which premiered in 2005. The new HD series UFO HUNTERS premieres Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on The History Channel®.

UFO Hunters Bill Birnes, Pat Uskert, Dr. Ted Acworth, and Jeff Tomlinson are passionate about separating fact from fallacy when it comes to UFO incidents. Each brings a different background and perspective: Bill Birnes is publisher of UFO Magazine, home to one of the world’s largest collections of documentation on UFO incidents. Also from UFO Magazine is investigator Pat Uskert, who became intrigued with the UFO phenomenon after he witnessed a strange metallic object floating over Venice, California. Jeff Tomlinson is the scientific intern with the UFO HUNTERS team. They are joined by Dr. Ted Acworth of MIT, a mechanical engineer and researcher who previously worked for NASA, and brings the discipline of hard science to the team, assisting in the investigations of reported UFO incidents to determine if they are real.

Each week, the group travels to the site of a well-known UFO incident to explore the event and uncover what really happened. Using history as their guide, the UFO Hunters examine evidence such as videotapes, audiotapes, witness interviews, and files newly opened under the Freedom of Information Act, then go on location and to the lab to interview, re-construct the events, and investigate. Their journeys take them across North America and Europe in search of the truth about these UFO sightings.

UFO HUNTERS examines an incident that took place two weeks before the now-famous report of a UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico. UFO HUNTERS: THE UFO BEFORE ROSWELL travels back to June 21st, 1947, when Harold Dahl was boating with crew and dog off the coast of Maury Island, Washington, in Puget Sound. They noticed several odd-shaped aircraft dotting the sky. One suddenly began spewing white-hot fragments over the water and onto the beach. The fiery falling debris killed Dahl’s dog and broke his son’s arm. He told the harbor patrol, who in turn reported the incident to the military. A few weeks later, two Air Force intelligence officers from Hamilton Field, California arrived in Tacoma. After conducting interviews, and collecting most of the remaining wreckage, the officers departed McChord Field in the early hours of August 1st. Shortly afterward, the airplane lost communication, and people reported seeing flames in the sky. Two people died in the crash, two others made their way through the darkness to a farmhouse. UFO HUNTERS has located the crash scene and along with an archeologist, comb the debris field, gathering and analyzing the evidence. UFO HUNTERS: THE UFO BEFORE ROSWELL premieres Wed., Jan. 30th at 10:00pm ET/PT.

History Channel may be blowing smoke with “UFO Hunters” series name
It appears that the History Channel may be blowing smoke, claiming the UFO Hunters series name is their original idea. According to the website of the company filming the UFO based series for the History Channel, the original name was going to be “UFO Road Trip”, which may have been changed to UFO Hunters after the SciFi Channel announced a series with that name in July of last year. Just because the History Channel filed for trademark registration of the mark “UFO HUNTERS” in October of last year, six days before the film company filming for SciFi, doesn’t mean they had the series name idea first.

A quick check of the Motion Picture Production, Inc. website clearly shows what the name of the History Channel series was going to be, and it wasn’t UFO Hunters. The website is still referring to it as “UFO Road Trip”, which is a 13 part series being filmed to be shown on the History Channel, and the History Channel is sending out promos and press releases saying their “UFO Hunters” is going to be a new 13 part series. What are the odds of that…???

It appears the History Channel was planning to call their series, “UFO Road Trip”, even as far back as 2006 when it was just an idea. I found one person’ blog write-up where he was attempting to be a part of that show, saying the History Channel was looking for scientists for the series.

Even William (Bill) Birnes, who is part of this new History Channel series acknowledged that he was part of a History Channel series by the name of, “UFO Road Trip”, adding that fact to his bios he had listed on numerous websites. No mention of “UFO Hunters”, just “UFO Road Trip.”

I have provided screen captures showing all this, at http://www.UFOHunters.net

Seen some of this series on the internet and whilst quite entertaining is somewhat protracted in its presentation of material. That said, I stayed tuned for the duration so it couldn’t have been that bad!

2009 July,4th The three of us were at a Private Island (Located minutes from the end of Anchor Bay Drive Clay Mi) for a Event Gathering of under 100 people.Red Glow of Constant Color on Bottom of flat black angular UFO Just Under Clowds Passing Just under the Moon (distance under moon was the size of the moon) witnessed by mechanical engineering, logistics specialist, peace officer. Seen on 07/04/2009 22:24 for 4 min 19 secs. If the moon were 12:00 the Red Object came out of the horizon at 07:30 then increased altitude steadily with the same speed and Heading of direction (Reason Im not saying North South East or West Is I was not familiar with the surroundings). At first glance thought to be Red coast guard helicopter, but as It passed under the moon we could see It was creating Its own Red light. The Red light was under the flat black angular UFO.The best description of the red glow like looking at Red Glowing Moliton Steel. The reason I use the tearm angular Is,I cant explaine the shape of It. Ive tried to sketch a drawing but I just cant seem to get It exact. I know what It Is not. It was not the International space station because It was on ground side of the Clowds. It was not a Jet,Helicopter,Blimp,Small Air Craft because It had no Tracker Beacon or vapor disturbance. It was not a hot air balloon because It was too fast and Entering proximity of no fly zone of Selfridge Air National Guard Base. We lost sight of the UFO because of the Buildings and tree line elevation. This was Real It was Unknown and It was In the Air.The Slang Military/Airman tearm for this is “Rock”=RAUC R=Real A=Airborn U=Unknown C=Craft. To Describe my feelings I would have to say at first Jumpy/shaky but within a few minutes after fulfillment/Collected. When I got home at 02:44 I could not sleep untill after 06:00 and Only slept for 3 or 4 hours

RE: Red Light on July 9th, 2009 4:56 am
Thank you! The number of us who have seen this is growing. I live on Belvidere Bay. Our first sighting was last fall – 2x within 25min’s of each other, same path and speed, diffrent elevations. This tells me too that it is not a hot air ballon and it is silent. We saw it again on the 4th like you and yours… but earlier, maybe 10:45 – 11:00pm. Also, it doesn’t photograph well – but I’m arming myself for the next one with low-light film and my tri-pod. It is small and the first lowest fly-by showed us it is likely not more than 8 feet in diameter, unsure of the height.

Keep an eye to the sky – it has been somewhat regular since the 4th.
