An autopsy was performed on the body of 28 year-old actor Heath Ledger by the New York City medical examiner. The ME’s office just released its preliminary report stating that the results were “inconclusive.” However, the New York police department and medical examiner’s office will still need about another 10-days to complete a full investigation.
Foul play is not suspected and although police and EMT’s found bottles of prescription doses of both sleeping pills and anti-depressive drugs at his bedside and in his medicine cabinet, suicide, although not yet ruled out, is considered unlikely.
If the ME’s final ruling is death by drug overdose, then it will likely be listed as accidental.
