Boll’s Next Epic Hits Theaters Next Month

December 17, 2007 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

Brightlight Pictures and 20th Century Fox of Germany are pleased to present Uwe Boll’s “In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale,” starring Jason Statham. The film is an epic fantasy based on the popular PC games

nameofking.jpgSet for its theatrical release on January 11th, 2008, “In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale” tells the story of a simple family man named Farmer, played by fan favorite Jason Statham (“Crank,” “Transporter 1 & 2”) who is forced to take up arms after an evil sorcerer, portrayed by Ray Liotta, unleashes an army of bloodthirsty beasts that destroy his small village and capture his beautiful wife (Claire Forlani). As the marauding forces overrun the land in an effort to overthrow the king and his loyal magus, the once peace-loving peasant and his two companions venture into perilous, uncharted terrain on a daring rescue mission.

In this breathtaking fantasy adventure, infamous director Uwe Boll conjures up a medieval world filled with royal treachery, dark magic and spectacular battles, all set against some of the most awe-inspiring vistas ever captured on film. Some are speculating that this is the film that will bring redemption to Boll’s past efforts.

“In the Name of the King” also stars Burt Reynolds, John Rhys-Davies, Ron Perlman, Will Sanderson, Bolls’ favorite actress Kristanna Loken and the strikingly beautiful Leelee Sobieski.

Note: Statham is set to star in the updated version of Death Race 2000, simply titled “Death Race,” and he will also put out a sequel to his highly popular “Crank” movie called “Crank 2: High Voltage.” “Death Race” is due out on September 28, 2008 while “Crank 2” is currently in pre-production.

You know, with Uwe Boll’s reputation, I find it amazing that he gets actors (well-known and hardly starving actors at that) to sign onto his films….

My god please let it be better than Bloodrayne! How can one man take a decent idea and decent actors and mess it up so bad.
