Paltalk, the leading real-time, video-based community, announced that famed actor William Shatner will appear on an upcoming episode of the site’s entertainment talk show, Hollywood Now with Joanne Colan. Building on the momentum that Paltalk has created as a promotional venue for artists, musicians and actors, Shatner will appear live on Paltalk’s interactive video platform, PaltalkScene, on Thursday, December 13, at 1 PM EST to discuss his new novel, “Star Trek: Academy — Collision Course,” and the release of his audio CD “Exodus.”

With Paltalk’s interactive technology, Shatner will take questions on everything from Star Trek to his recent success on Boston Legal from both Colan and online viewers, who can interact face-to-face with both personalities throughout the show.

“Because our platform allows for more intimate interaction between artists and their fans, Paltalk is quickly becoming a promotional destination for actors, authors, musicians and directors who want to connect firsthand with their most loyal fans,” said Joel Smernoff, President and COO of Paltalk. “The appearance of a household name like William Shatner underscores how the digital world is able to impact traditional forms of live entertainment, giving fans the ability to interact with celebrities that they otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to connect with.”

Combining elements of broadcasted video content, social networking and live interactive video communities, Paltalk’s distinctive brand of socialcasting offers a completely new experience for viewers and gives celebrities, politicians and other newsmakers a unique venue to connect with fans and promote new projects. Paltalk’s original programs — including News Talk Online, Hollywood Now with Joanne Colan, LateNet with Ray Ellin, and MusicScene — are truly unique, as they allow viewers to communicate directly with guests of the show, as well as the show’s host and other viewers in real time using voice, video and text chat. Lonestar, Slash, Chevy Chase and Stephen King have been among the celebrities and performers who have appeared on PaltalkScene in recent months to plug their latest work.
