“Journeyman” Will Get Its 12 Episodes

November 29, 2007 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Written by: Michael Hickerson (SoSF Staff Journalist)

The good news is NBC has decided to go ahead and air the last two produced episodes of “Journeyman.” There was some speculation and worry among fans and the show’s creator, Kevin Falls, that NBC might pull the plug on the series early, leaving the last two completed installments hanging, possibly to never see the light of day (well, at least until the eventual DVD release). However, strong support by the on-line fan community has been heard and NBC will show these two episodes. However, fans may need to adjust their recording devices. The first half of this two-part episode airs on Monday, December 17th at 10 p.m. EST. The follow-up installment airs on Wednesday, December 19th at 10 p.m. EST.

This two-part story promises to provide answers to some of the series lingering questions and some resolution to the on-going plotlines. Series creator Kevin Falls says the two-parter could serve as a season finale, should the Peacock network not choose to pick up the series for a full season.

“There’s still no news on our long term future, but we can promise you this: three terrific episodes inside of ten days,” said Falls. “Oh, yeah, and you’ll get some answers, too.”

However, Falls says that while he’s encouraged that the episodes will air, he’s not giving up on the series seeing a full season.

On a post at Ain’t It Cool News, Falls said, “Your comments and pro-active attempts to save the show are very much appreciated by me and my fellow Executive Producer Alex Graves, Kevin McKidd and the cast, writers and crew. But more importantly, it’s working.”

He went on to encourage fans to “But don’t rest. We need you. We want a back nine–and beyond.”

Falls also asked fans to vote for the show in the People’s Choice Awards voting.

Journeyman already should have received the back-nine pickup. It’s in a tougher timeslot than either Bionic Woman or Life, and it just beat both of them ratings-wise in the 18-49 demographic. NBC, what’s the delay? You’ve got a winner on your hands if you’d give it the same fair chance you give to Chuck, Bionic and Life.

I love Journeyman. It is an intelligently written and well acted show. I am really pissed that their is even talk of it being canceled. If junk like The Bachelor and Kid nation gets viewers, why can’t a thought provoking scifi show like this get them. Maybe it’s the time slot. I don’t know, but I hope that NBC doesn’t give up on this one. I seem to recall another scifi show that NBC threatened to cancel when I was in college called Star Trek. Evenually they did cancel it. I wonder if that show had any future?

i cannot believe that journey man is being canelled. it’s is the best show since 24. nothing has been able to compete with 24 till now. Why are they pulling the plug. of course a show is going to have low ratings airing at 10pm on a monday, nothing can compete with the news. it seems my favorite show was doomed to fail from the beginning with the awful time slot and short life span it was given.
