Rambo’s Last Act of Heroism

November 28, 2007 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

Written by: Samuel K. Sloan (FarPoint Media Executive News Director)

ht_rambo_071126_ssv.jpgRocky returned to the ring last year in an exhibition movie bout that actually turned out to be one of actor Sylvester Stallone’s best performances in his long 30+ year career. “Rocky Balboa” turned in critical and fan praise as well as a substantial box office take, making it one of the most successful films of 2006.

Now the 60-year old rough and tumble will put on the fatigues and red bandana one last time to see if he can give another of his famous characters — Rambo — a fitting closure, as he did with Rocky Balboa.

This fourth and final film in the Vietnam vet franchise, simply titled “Rambo,” not only stars Sly, but was also written and directed by him.

“Rambo” follows the aging action hero into the jungles of Thailand where Rambo assembles a group of like-minded mercenaries to find a missing group of Christian aid workers. Along the way Rambo comes to the aid of the Karen, a group of villagers being oppressed by a sadistic Burmese military leader named Major Pa Tee Tint. As it turns out he is the same guy responsible for the kidnapping and torture of the Christian missionaries.

We are left to wonder if Sly will resurrect Cobra one last time for his next farewell feature.

“Rambo” will make its big screen premiere on January 25, 2008.
