Actress Kristen Stewart has signed on to star in “Twilight,” an indie vampire thriller-romance based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-seller, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Twilight” and its sequels have been best-sellers among teenage readers.
Stewart will portray a character named Bella Swan, a 17-year-old who becomes drawn to a classmate who is a vampire.
Shooting on “Twilight” begins in February with Catherine Hardwicke (“Thirteen”) directing. Film is funded by Summit Entertainment.
Stewart can currently be seen with Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild.” She also starred with Jodie Foster in “Panic Room,” and Meg Ryan in “In the Land of Women.”
